Probably the shortest of my blogs but, by far, the most important! As of Friday 19th March 2021 (unfortunately, the year is important when talking about COVID these days!), Madeira will be removed from the UK's 'red list' of holiday destinations.
This means that you will not have to check-in to a government quarantine hotel upon return. As the rules are changing according to the pandemic, be prepared to self-isolate at home should you be asked to take a COVID test and wait for the all-clear.
According to the government, Portuguese islands have passed the point of herd immunity, not necessarily because of the virus running rife, simply because of the low populations. So, come on over and get some sun. Only the airlines can mess with your travel plans, once again!
